IBC eBulletin - Davis Vision Contract Dispute Update

We are writing to tell you that the local union of Davis Vision, our
contracted vision vendor located in Newtown Square, Pa., voted to strike on
Sunday, January 22, 2012. We want to assure you that members should experience
very little to no impact. A few important facts:

  • Davis Vision is working hard to reach an agreement. Davis
    Vision has informed Independence Blue Cross (IBC) that it is in the midst of
    contract discussions with their Newtown Square union workforce and is working
    hard to reach an agreement on the new labor contract.
  • Business operations will continue without interruption during strike
    activities.     Davis Vision has informed IBC that it will use secondary
    lab facilities in other locations to limit any disruption in members' receiving
    their eyeglasses and contacts. If eyeglass production needs to temporarily be
    handled out of another Davis Vision lab, we have been assured by Davis Vision
    that the process will be seamless.
  • Davis Vision expects no disruption in service to customers.
    Davis Vision has informed IBC that it will meet all of its commitments to its
    customers and IBC members who have vision benefits through Davis Vision.
  • Members can expect to receive the same quality and level of service
    from Davis Vision as always.     Davis Vision has informed IBC that quality
    and service are two elements that Davis Vision will maintain and not compromise
    throughout the strike.
